Snowpocalypse, 2011
So I went to sleep last night with the anticipation of maybe, just possibly, not having school. The evening forecast called for 4 to 6 inches of snow locally, but that might end up being later in the day. I first awoke at 4 for some reason, looked out the window (obviously couldn't see a thing as it was dark; DURP!), and then checked my phone for the school update. Still no official closing from Fayetteville Public Schools. But that's normal for them; usually they don't let us know until 5 or so. Hope is not yet lost. Wake up again at 6:30; still can't see outside, but do check the phone once again. "All Fayetteville Public Schools will be CLOSED on Wednesday, February 9, due to the winter weather." SCORE! I don't so much care at the moment to check and see what it actually looks like, so I go back to sleep.
Finally, awake for the final time at 8:15. I'm not a person who sleeps in that long, so this is actually late for me. Look out the window this time, as the morning has arrived. Except one problem; I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING OUTSIDE BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH SNOW!?!? This is odd. Last time we got 7 inches I still could see at least out my own window. Something is amiss. I go downstairs and look out the back window, as it is the most reliable place in my house to define how it is outside. OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!?? The back porch has AT LEAST 10 inches of snow on it already. Absolutely insane. It continues to snow heavily for another 5 hours or so, dropping close to 2 inches an hour. Final day's tally- 20 INCHES. I haven't seen so much snow since I lived in New Hampshire, and I hardly remember that. We all thought that the storm we received last week was bad; this one can't even compare. Imagine thinking that a small poodle was bad because it seemed vicious, as you have never seen a dog as so before. Now, go ahead one week, and you then encounter a MASSIVE German Shepherd. You believed at first the poodle was the most frightening dog alive, because you haven't seen anything scarier. The German Shepherd changed this idea completely. A terrible but simple analogy/comparison to the snow/ice storm of last week to the snowPOCALYPSE of today. Absolutely insane. Folks, welcome to Alaska...ahem, I mean Northwest ARKANSAS.

2011
Just thought I should get a "Welcome, 2011" post in before it turned out to be 2012. No time to actually write. So, best part of my day-

Back Home

YYYAAWWWNNNN....yeah, I'm a bit tired. As I should be after driving back from Dallas (that'd be about 6 hours of driving, y'all). Boo, 6 HOURS, I know. I've made my fair share of 1500+ mile trips in my life, so yes, this was one of the weaker ones. But the difference between those 1500 mile trips and this 330 mile trip is that with the 1500's, you take the mindset pretty early that "Yeah, this is my life for the next few days". 330 just makes 6 hours feel like the longest of your life. At a certain point, one really isn't much better than another.
Another thing that kind of made this a wee-bit more tiring was the thing I did the night before. So, we stayed in The W Hotel in Dallas for a night, instead of cramming into my uncle's spare room. This hotel is something undescribable. I recommend if you are bored, you look at this. Anyways, we had a room on the 14th floor. The TOP of the hotel is the 33rd. Well, you can actually go on the room of this place IF you venture up the stairwell all the way up to the top. So, basically walk the 19 floors (which, after counting, thats 26 steps per floor: a grand total of 494 steps to the top). Me and my brother dared to do it. BAD IDEA. We got to the top, and it turned out that for the holiday break they had it locked. So, we did that all for no reason...another 494 steps back down. On a bum ankle, this is EXTREMELY tiring. It's been sore all day...totally sucks. That's my interesting-not-really story for the day. And the only thing I've got to say since I'm so incredibly tired. Emphasis once again on TIRED. Well, night everyone. Wait, that's too lame of an ending. GET TO BED, NOW!!!!
